Become a Trainer
PAPYRUS believes that suicide is everybody’s business and only by engaging everyone can a community become suicide safer.
Some communities and individuals can make a contribution towards preventing suicide by delivering suicide prevention training.
PAPYRUS currently offers two “Train the Trainer” products:
- Train to deliver a free 30 minute suicide awareness session
- Train to deliver a two day Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) course
The 30 minute suicide awareness session is designed to be delivered to any audience over 16. It raises awareness of the prevalence of suicide, busts some common myths and shares details about what help is available. In order to learn to deliver this you must first undergo either PAPYRUS’ “Identifying and Talking About Suicide” or “Applied Suicide Intervention Skills” training. Charges apply to these. But the subsequent “Train the Trainer” is free and takes only 4 hours. If this is of interest please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will contact you when we are able to set up a course in your area.
The Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) that PAPYRUS delivers is recommended by the World Health Organisation and was the first suicide prevention programme to be listed in the American National Registry for Evidence-based Programmes and Practices. To date over 2 million people worldwide have been trained in ASIST. ASIST was developed, and is quality controlled, by the Canadian organisation LivingWorks.
By choosing the ASIST model, you will become part of a worldwide network of trainers who support each other.
The training takes five consecutive days and costs roughly £2000 plus travel and accommodation per person. If this is of interest please email email@example.com and we will contact you as soon as we have enough demand to set up a course in your area.
