Widnes HOPEWALK, Sunday 21 October – departing 12 noon
Calling all Widnes wanderers, walkers, amblers, strollers and striders! Whatever your pace, join the growing number of local people who take part in this annual walk to raise awareness that suicide is the leading cause of death among young people in the UK.
The Widnes PAPYRUS HOPEWALK takes place on Sunday 21 October: a 10km loop around Ditton and Widnes Town Centre, departing at 12 noon from the Hammer and Pincers pub, Liverpool Road, Widnes.
Widnesian Ged Flynn, chief executive of host charity PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide extends a warm welcome to all supporters and hopes to see many new faces among the HOPEWALK regulars.
“This is the sixth time we have held HOPEWALK in Widnes. It is great to see new faces each year and more people who want to smash the stigma surrounding suicide, the leading cause of death among young people in the UK. These events enable people to engage with a topic which otherwise remains silent. The Widnes HOPEWALK is a 10km loop around Ditton and Widnes Town Centre. Everyone is welcome to join us on the day.”
Entrance is free but a £10 donation is asked for a PAPYRUS t-shirt on the day.
